Short history

The Beretta PMX is a 9x19mm Parabellum caliber submachine gun, designed and manufactured by the Italian company Beretta. The PMX was presented in 2017 and is intended to replace the Beretta M12 as an ordinance weapon of some law enforcement in Italy.[4]

The Beretta PMX shares design features with the Beretta M12, which was supplied to many police forces and armed forces around the world. Around 2015–2016, there were many rumours about the release of a new submachine gun model that was then presented by Beretta during the "Milipol" exhibition in Paris in 2017.[5]

Since 2018, Italy's Carabinieri has ordered, after experimentation in some operational departments, more than 5,000 PMXs[1] with the future intention of modernizing the entire individual weapons arsenal. In March 2022 it was confirmed that the Saudi government awarded Beretta a contract for 3,500 PMXs to arm the Saudi Royal Guard Regiment.[2] As of February 2023, at least 47 Beretta PMXs have been ordered for the Elite Forces of Malaysia.[6]

As a gas-operated airsoft submachine gun, it fulfills its task on the field unrivaled, for example in urban warfare scenarios. The body is made of glass fiber reinforced polymer and therefore remains robust despite being lightweight. The PMX achieves precision and realism through an adjustable shoot-up, a clearly noticeable blowback effect and authentic controls, such as the double-sided fire selector lever and magazine holder. The repeating lever can be moved so that it can be operated completely from both sides.

A threaded barrel (M12x1) for tracer and silencer units, as well as a Picatinny quadrail with an already mounted combat grip and adjustable sights complete the package that makes the Beretta PMX the ideal CQB submachine gun.
